This memo provides suggestions to jails for managing the impacts of COVID-19—in part, based on the CDC recommendations and input from corrections and health experts. Recommendations first include a strong collaboration between local public health departments. The remainder of the recommendations fall into three buckets:

  • Bucket #1- Dealing with the effects of COVID-19 in the community
  • Bucket #2- Dealing with the effects of COVID-19 among staff
  • Bucket #3- Dealing with infection, or possible infection among the incarcerated population
