The Nebraska legislature passed a bill to change and provide requirements regarding treatment and segregation of incarcerated individuals with mental health needs. Some of the requirements of this bill include the establishment of the Office of Inspector General of the Nebraska Correctional System to provide increased accountability and oversight of the Nebraska correctional system; updated requirements regarding screening for risk assessment and mental illness; and the creation of a long-term restrictive housing work group.
